Shore Time is an international gathering celebrating the intersections of art, design, economy, ecology, and foodways.
Join us on Fogo Island this September for artist talks, food circles, architecture and design walks, studio visits, foraging, and more. Together we will explore the importance of place, our relationship to community economies, and the pivotal role of artists in imagining a sustainable future.
In coming together on an island off an island in the North Atlantic, we hope to foster a shared sense of belonging.

Shore Time is organized by Fogo Island Arts, a founding program of Shorefast, a registered Canadian charity dedicated to unleashing the power of place so local communities can thrive in the global economy. Established in 2008 as an international artist residency program, Fogo Island Arts is dedicated to the belief that artists are visionaries with a unique capacity to reveal and respond to the complexities of our time.
Our residencies enable artists, curators, and writers to think, create, and connect, promoting discovery across perspectives and disciplines. The geographic specificity of Fogo Island is a foundational platform for engagement around issues of sustainability, ecology, economy, and belonging. Over the last 15 years, Fogo Island Arts has grown into an international program of exhibitions, public programs, publications, and research projects that aim to explore art and ideas that bridge connections between the local and the global.
There are many ways to get to Fogo Island, Gander, Newfoundland (YQX) is the closest international airport.
