SHORE TIME CLOSING PARTY |
J.K. CONTEMPORARY
Erratics II, J.K. Contemporary’s final exhibit of the 2024 season, is a bi-annual group show of artists from Fogo Island and abroad, joyfully celebrating the ubiquitous Fogo Island erratic as metaphor for the artist and the work they create.

The erratic, from the Latin verb errare “to wander”, is a geological term for nomadic boulders, carried by glaciers from their place of origin thousands of years ago. As terrestrial anomalies, they rest in places far from their original home. To encounter an erratic, or a work of art, one may ask: Why is it here?
